I applied for the Citi Costco card last night as was denied for too any inquiries. I currently have 11 Inquiries (2 from 6/1/29, previous are 6+ months) so I called the recon line and was told they cannot overturn a decision.
I called the EO number using the backdoor sticky and it took me back to the recon line who said "we see you've already spoken to two agents". I called the EO number again and continued to press "0" until I got someone from the EO office who transferred me again to the recon line. The rep put me on hold, came back and said she would file a ticket to the "policy department" and I could follow-up in 2 weeks if I haven't heard back.
Has anyone had success after having their application sent to the policy department?
Sounds to me like it's a no go at this time.
Not sure what the "policy department" is, pretty sure there isnt one. I think they are trying to tell you that in certain instances, denials for a lot of inquiries/new accounts constitute a "policy".
If you want that card, or any other, sounds like some gardening time is in order.
Sorry about the denial! With 11 inquiries, recon may not be possible.
OP, just to be clear...how many inquiries do you have in the last 12 months? And which credit bureau did Citi pull?

How many new accounts were created as a result of of these 11 inquiries?

OP, In this case, I think "no" simply means "no." Now is the time to step back and reevaluate your credit profile. Eleven inquiries really are a lot. If you received CCs through these inquiries, it's a good time to let them age. However, even if one was a denial, it's just a sign to take a break.
The EO isn't a magic wand. Sometimes the answer is still no. In this case, it seems Citi's credit dept is unwilling to overturn the decision. You will just have to garden and give it a try later.
You have too many inquiries... trying to recon this would be an exercise in futility....
You need to garden... and i suspect at least 6 mo.. more like a year....
Perhaps maybe next time?
