Citi Diamond PC to Double Cash

Hi! This is my first post Smiley Happy

I've been ever so patiently waiting for the clock to strike midnight on the day my 12 months 0% APR promotion expired on my Citi Diamond Preferred card so I could change it into a Citi Double Cash. I called the day BEFORE the anniversary date and was told to call 24-48 hours later. Fast forward to speaking with a CSR today (one day after the year anniversary), and she tells me the promotional period will actually end at the end of this billing cycle, which is in the beginning of April. I inquired about to changing to a World Mastercard, and she said I'd have to wait until I convert to the Double Cash to do that.

Is this truly the case? Is there anything else I can do? I've been waiting for this day for so long, and it's hard to be told to wait some more. I know you all will have some advice for me!

Re: Citi Diamond PC to Double Cash

I'm sorry, but I don't have any advice for you, although, welcome to the boards!!

I did want to say that I did exactly this on Monday 3/23 and it went through without a hitch.  I've had the Diamond Preferred since 2012, so it was out of the Intro APR rate of 0%, but still in another 0%, but recently paid off -- so I was hoping that wouldn't hinder this transaction and it didn't~ Heart

Like everyone else, there wasn't a need for this card anymore other than PCing it to the Double Cash for the 2%.    I spoke to regular a customer service agent and asked for a PC and APR reduction, since the Diamond is/was at 18.99 since the start, but always under a 0% promotion.  She did the APR reduction request first and I got 16.99, ugh.  Well, okay I accepted that, since it's better than nothing.  I didn't want/need any HP's -- which would of occurred if I had app'd for the card, since on the pre-qual site -- they offered 12.99 and I did mention that, but she couldn't offer that, since it's for new applicants -- hence the hard pull.

I like the fact that it was a seamless process and it didn't require a HP.  Also, the account # remains the same and all former BT offers, but they'll send me a new card.  After the phone call, the new Double Cash pic had already replaced the Diamond Preferred pic and she said I can continue using the DP til the DC comes.

Re: Citi Diamond PC to Double Cash

Welcome to the forum! Citi told me a product conversion required 12 months on a new account and that the promotional period was ended (some run 12,15, 18 and even 21 months). Also, they told me (could be different now) that a customer could not initiate the product change from a standard master card to a world master card. That said, on myfico it seems the rules can and are broken every day. The most Citi can say is no and you can always call back in and try again (never know).

Re: Citi Diamond PC to Double Cash

Ooh, I appreciate all that info! Putting it all in the ole mental filing cabinet.

Do you think I could ask for the PC, an APR reduction (mine will be 19.99 when the promotion ends) and for World Mastercard all at once? Although, I read here on the boards in a recent post that a guy got his APR reduced easily via an online chat...

I'm going to give it a try! I have nothing to lose. I'll let you all know if I am able to get the World Mastercard.

Re: Citi Diamond PC to Double Cash

After waiting for my final statement to cut, I was finally able to PC my DP to a DC today. And the change was reflected on my account immediately when I logged in online. This was all done with a regular CSR over the phone.

In regards to the World Mastercard, I called the backdoor number to inquire about that conversion process. Interestingly enough, the lady I spoke with wasn't aware of a World Mastercard...she only knew of the "regular" Mastercard and World Elite Mastercard. She then finally concluded that all DC cards are World Mastercards.

Hmmm... I guess I'll see when my card arrives in 9-14 days.
