Citi Premier Decline - recon?

Hello all,

I recently applied for a Citi Premier card and was declined due to too many recent inquiries on my credit report. Currently I have 10 inquired on my Experian (the one they pulled) with 3 being from the last 12 months (including the one that they did when I applied) and 3 were due to shopping around for car loan rates when I purchased my car about 13 months ago. I called and they said that they didn't do any reconsideration over the phone. I did read online that you can send a letter to their executive office. Is there any possibility over the phone, and would it be worthwhile to send a letter through the mail to them for possible reconsideration?

Thank you!

Yes you can recon if it was for a car loan, they will check what type of inquiries though.  Doesn't mean they will overchange the decision though and might cost another HP.  # can be found on sticky post of this sub-forum.  Citi is pretty tight these days with accounts/inquires within last 6 months.

I agree with the other response on this thread. Citi seems to be pretty stingy with approvals although I would have thought you could do a recon over the phone, maybe Executive Office? Anyway, good luck!
