Well, in the ongoing saga of getting my DW back on track credit-wise (or should I say credit wiser?), she used Citi's pre-approval site looking for a BT card and she app'ed for a Simplicity card for their 18 month 0% offer (told her she should've gone for the Diamond Preffered at 21 months 0%). She gets the 7-10 day message but day 13 comes and goes and no letter or email. The link on her email about her account being under review and to wait 7-10 days kept saying "7-10" at day 13. So we dediced to call and they wanted to verify the address. (Note: some residential addresses here in Puerto Rico are 4-line format like:
Your name
Urbanization name
street and house number
city, state, zip
Citi's site did not provide space for the urbanization name (although mail will 95% of the time arrive fine without it) so I gave them the complete address. CSR said they'd be in touch with a letter in 7-10 days and to give them a call once it arrived. Even after the CSR repeated back the address 3 times, she managed to write it down in the wrong place and now even though the letter arrived, the address is not formated correctly. This will surely lead to another "7-10 day" period for another letter tomorrow when she calls in as per their instructions.
Between this and the fact that I get abosolutely no love (and no pre-approvals) from Citi, we might call it off and look for another card (already have Discover but it doesnt cover the complete amount we want to BT). Data point on myself: I burned Citi like 20 years ago. Do they really black-list people for life or what?
Edited to add: Now she tried again to pre-qualify and it comes back as "we couldn't match your records to a Pre-Qualified credit card offer".
Could a pending app trigger this "we don't like you anymore" message?? LOL
