Just thought I would pass this along as always YMMV.
DH and I included citi in BK in 2005. Eventually he was able to get a few cobranded cards (macys home depot), however always denied their bank cards.
I eventually got the simplicity card used it for BT deal and then really had no use for card, they wouldn't convert after numerous tries and I was downsizing my cards, so I closed it.
Well it's been 15 years, and I thought maybe just maybe he could get simplicty and get a nice BT deal.
Denied top 2 reasons, previously account with them IIB and unsatisfactory account with them in the past. 3rd reason inquiries .
Sooooo for those that can get back in, you should feel very fortunate, as 15 years later he still is on BL.
Sorry 😕
@Anonymous
It's ok , just wanted to share, i mean barclays yeah I expect that but citi 😕
I think its ironic that Citibank denies you and hubby for IIB fifteen years ago when Citibank topped the list of bank who received federal money from TARP
@Jnbmom I burned Citi in my BK13 on a Home Depot card and they have never given me an issue in regards to approvals. Maybe because the card I burned them on was a co-brand? Not sure but even so I have/had quite a few Citi cards. My current lineup with them is Prestige, Premier, Rewards+, Double Cash, AAdvantage, Best Buy Visa, and Home Depot. I believe a couple of them I had to just call for verification but none ever denied to have to explain my previous BK. I guess I will consider myself lucky/fortunate.
If I am reading this correct you bought burned Citi but they let you back in (Simplicity) but not him?

That is correct.
Citi allowed me to combine by Simplicity and DC and I kept the DC. At first they said it was not possible but then I started talking about unneeded cards. This was my second call after trying to cancel the Simpicity and being transferred to retention and convinced to keep it. I think $14,000 is a healthy limit on a Citi card.
The only card I ever burned was Capital One from college. Got back in with them in 2015 starting at $10,000.
Too many options to be worried about ones who hate you but I assume the challenge is why you do it.
So sorry @Jnbmom . That completely sucks. Their loss. Your gain now. ![]()

Yes we really don't need them, just found it strange to still be on their naughty list, but completely understandable.
