Citibank Double Cash Credit Card. 713 Eq Fico - Denied!

Got denied for "No recent installment loan information" and "Too many recent inquiries." My eq fico score is 713. My sister with a 601 eq score got approved for $300 scl but she has student loans and a couple of Cap 1 credit cards. I have 2 new credit cards from Cap 1 and BofA. That's all that's on my credit report. Limited credit history was my downfall. Credit score is just a piece of the approval pie. Live and learn. Gardening for now.

I got approved for a Citi Double Cash card a couple of years ago. When I applied I didn't have any credit cards but I did have student loans that I was (am) paying on. In fact the student loans were the only installment loans on my credit report at the time. My credit score was pretty similar to yours.

Did you try their preapproval page?  I have a Cap1 quicksilver, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Amex PRG,  Amex Blue Cash AU, and student loans. Experian score at 660. Tried their preapproval before but I'm sure it would be a denial as well.

Yeah it's too bad that the credit score on one ✋ it's really emphasized as THE key to the Kingdom, the be all
Then on the other ✋ it's really just a Step 1 Check point

It can really FOOL ppl into believing they have arrived somewhere they haven't but like the OP said Live n Learn
And, I'm so happy the OP has that sentiment vs the ' this makes NO SENSE' mindset that so many jump to.... just by that statement I know @Renneto will be fine going forward.

My denial was very similar to yours. My revolving history is just 6 months old. I'm sending myself to the garden and letting everything grow.
