Citibank lied!

I applied for a advantage platinum from a offer and a Advantage Gold (on my own) and was denied. I called the recon Lin and spoke to CSR and I was told they only received one application. She ask if I was to still be considered for the Gold and I said the Platinum and she states we didn't get a app for the platinum.  So I said the gold then. I looked at credit file I have inquiry on 6/30 when I applied and 2 inquiries on 7/1/15 the day I spoke to the rep. She said she would call me back I haven't heard anything back. She said she was sending app for the gold to a analyst. What are your thoughts guys.  So 1 inquiry fromEx and 2 from Eq.  Somebody is lying.

Re: Citibank lied!

My thought is that it's the holliday weekend and to wait a couple of days into next week. If you heard nothing then, well give them a call back.

Sounds like miscommunication or an honest mistake. The application may just not have appeared yet on the CSR's side perhaps.

Analysts may work the standard banker hours, so you may not hear anything over this holiday weekend. Regardless, I'd call again on Monday to get your apps/inquiries straightened out.

Agreed on the miscommunication and an honest mistake part.  OP call them back.

Call them back on Monday morning (early).

Re: Citibank lied!

Just like everyone said - call them back.

I am sure you can make an argument that based on the apps that were made and the miscommunication/honest mistake to have one of the pulls removed from your report. That is if that is something that concerns you. Mention exactly what happened and ask to remove one of the pulls since it was an application for the same card on two relatively close dates.

Best of luck to you on getting approved !
