Comenity Bjs card CLI

Was thinking about doing a CLI on my comenity card for Bjs, right now my CL is $6,500 and my initial approval was done without a hard pull (that I can see), I was at the store one day and they just told me I was pre-approved so I grabbed the card.

Ive had the card about 6 months now, and have yet to ask for a CLI.

My current Util across all cards is 2%.

Do they typically do a hard pull for a CLI? There's a disclaimer that's says "we may need to access your credit report in making our decision, by clicking this button you give us permission to do so"

Am I giving them permission for a hard pull?

edit: spelling.

Re: Comenity Bjs card CLI

While you are giving them permission for a HP, I have only had it done once and that was because my phone number was not listed on my Experian report of all things.  But all the rest (and I got a lot before it seems to have capped out at $30k) were soft pulls.  IIRC you can ask every 4 months on that card.

Re: Comenity Bjs card CLI

Well, datapoints for you for what it's worth.  I've had my BJs Comenity MC since summer 2018.  SL of $12,000.  I honestly don't know if there was a hard pull or not when I originally applied.  I think my score was around 750-760 when I applied.

My score is floating around because of some balance transfers, but FICO 8 generally between mid 750's and 790's in the last month or two.  All factors exceptional except utilization which is just under 50%.  My credit history is 25+ years old, thick, mature, clean, no inquiries.

I've always used the BJs card PIF statement balance every month, I don't think I've ever paid a penny of interest on it, monthly spend varies between maybe $700 - $1,500.  I use this card only for BJs for fuel and in club stuff for the 5% off and 10 cents on fuel.

With that background, I just hit the "request increase" up on the website and instantly went from $12,000 to $15,000.  This was just a few minutes ago but I'm not seeing anything light up in myFICO.

My main point in posting is to share data points, but I do have a question for the forum, hopefully this isn't hijacking.  I have the Family Advanced plan.  My impression is that HP's get alerted on almost instantaneously in myFICO.  Is that the case?

Also, in general, if the approval is instant with Comenity, is it always a SP?  Or can it be a HP?

It's fairly rare these days to see a HP CLI with a variety of Comenity cards.

In the past, there was a short period of time where some CLIs were being processed (mainly online) as HP (hit or miss for some profiles).  But, based on recent data points from the Comenity CLI HP/SP thread, it appears it's back to SP.  So, if you don't see any HP alerts from any CMS, then it was SP.

Congratulations on your CLI w BJ's!!! 🥳🥳🥳 Shopped there w my Boston sister for Holiday Meal stocking up. Great place.

Comenity: usually a SP. Gottah say, the changed increase in my CL seems to take another reporting cycle to report/reflect/show. YMMV 🙏🏻
