Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

Well that was quick.

Overstock card arrived today. Called in to activate it, then set up my online account for paying the bill. Said screw it and hit the luv button - instant SP increase of $1500, new limit $2250 (no luck on a double-dip attempt though, but I had to try). That’s a little better. If I can hit a few $1500 CLIs here a couple months apart, this will be just fine.

Opened Overstock with a disappointing $750 SL on 10/13/2019 - disappointing since my other two lines with them are much higher and perfectly maintained. But my UTI overall is higher than the ideal so I get it. I took the preapproval (which was an EX HP) because I found a dining set I wanted through them, but it would’ve maxed the card so I passed on it. I found that putting a $2500 dining set in my cart a couple days before the app had no discernible bearing on my approval that I can see, although my two others both opened at $500, so maybe there was an influence.

Regardless, OS is known to grow into a monster quickly and easily so I’m not terribly concerned. Any CLI activity to come will be documented as always in post 2 of this thread.

Congratulations! Don't worry, it will grow super fast!

That seems to be the consensus and I got a taste of that tonight - see my post just above yours lol.

Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

I really didn't want to make a new thread to ask this so I figured I would ask here.

My WS VISA showed up on EX and it's reporting open and I've been getting emails with rewards certificates and welcoming me to the rewards program so I think I must have managed to escape my card being shut down.

My question now is... when do you ask for a CLI? It's a $1K SL and I really don't know anything about Comenity except they like to shut down new majors for too much credit seeking and they can have awesome BT offers.

Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

Wish I could help you bud, but I only have cobrands from them and they don’t give a rat’s (ahem) in my experience about asking for increases on the store cards. I’d think that six months is safe normally but that you’d probably be forgiven for asking sooner than that for your first one at least. Don’t hold me to it - I have no firsthand knowledge - but I think it’s reasonable for a bank to expect customers to try and feel them out at first.

Why not search the Approvals forum to see what others did?

My experience: 1st CLI on two Commenity cards @ 7 weeks after approval. Cards have grown from 1k and .5k to 17k and 16.5k in less than 1 1/2 years.

Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

@Anonymous With my luck I'll probably get a HP and I'm legit trying to garden right now so I will check in February.

I actually may want either the Sony or PlayStation cards depending on how the rewards program revamp shakes out under Comenity so maybe I'll just wait until I am ready to app for that.

That's some nice growth. Thanks for the info!

If at activation no CLI takes place, then it's 6 months from the approval date.   This is typically the initial time for the 1st CLI on the majors.   There are a few exceptions for individual profiles where a CLI can occur upon receipt of the card, but it's YEMV.
