Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

Card in question: Williams Sonoma retail
Open date and whether SP/SCT or HP: Jan 30 via SP (cannot remember if it was SCT or Pop-up)
Existing CL: $500 starting CL; tried recon on day of approval and 3 days later but no luck

Date of CLI: March 24
Amount of CLI: $1250 bringing total CL to $1750
For each CLI, whether it was SP or HP: SP (hit the luv button)

After I registered my account I noticed the 'luv' button but didn't it as I thought Comenity might have a 91/3 guideline. After seeing someone today get a CLI in just 30 days of opening I tried for the CLI today and got it. May wait a few more days to see if I can double tap them.

Hi @Aspireto850

You would do well to ignore anything 91/3 pertaining to Comenity CLI's. That soley and predominately applies to Navy credit union cards guideline that you see so often.  NOT comenity or any others for that matter. Although some lenders may utilize a quarterly review 3 months etc. But Comenity is NOT one of those. In fact it's been my experience in times past they had a 4 month window i watched like a hawk to ensure a CLI with them on retail cards. (Depending on certain ones) And they have MANY. Not always on a same time period.

They can spring right out of the blue sometimes when you least expect a increase approval you might thought would be chancy at best. OR they may have you wait out longer. The thing with Comenity is USAGE and i even found a PIF before statement cut sometimes doesn't appeal to them. In those instances i let the statement post the balance to the CRA's THEN PIF. That (at least for me on some of their cards) assures their clock period and amount of statements meets their satisfaction. Of course keep your FICO Score up gives you a leg up with them too when it comes to CLI's via SP.

They are intriguing in the oddest of manners and full of surprises!

First Congrats and enjoy your ever growing tl!  These are fun tl's that grow like weeds usually.

I'll share some of our (family) experiences with Comenity Cli's.

Double Dip: When you ask and receive a cli, then smash that luv button again and you may receive another (double) cli instantly.

Minors (sc): ymmv but as far as scheduling when to ask on a "regular basis" is on avg. after 2 months.  That's average, not set in stone.

Majors (visa/mc): ymmv but as far as scheduling when to ask on a "regular basis" is after 3 months. Some found 4 to 5, even 6 months wait time.  So this is just an average...3-6 month guestimate.  Again, not set in stone because of cr changes and such.

With Minors and Majors it depends on your profile.  Some can ask on this schedule above and receive cli's regularly, others find through trial and error they have to give it an extra month or 2.

example:  Majors- me, every 3 to 4 months   Majors- dh, every 4 to 6 months.  This is an average, not exact.

(Tip: If you use their tl regularly it seems to be easier to recieve a cli on the shorter schedule (in our personal experiences) but not using the tl's on a regular still nets a cli, maybe not on the shorter schedule but maybe it takes an extra month or two. Again, not set in stone. Dp's here do show a regularly granted cli on the shorter schedule with/without spend- seems to be for those with strong profiles.  That's why it's a ymmv type schedule you'll have to figure out for yourself.)

Comenity does not cut a stmt. on cards that don't have any activity or a 0 balance. At least they don't for ours due to early pif. CSR's have confirmed this to me a couple of times. But sometimes this may offset your earilest schedule, but that's another ymmv again. It's been my personal experience a couple of times over the years.  ie. 3 stmts. in a row on my major nets me a cli every 3 months plus a few days.  I've gone 5 months before without back to back stmts. and had to wait it out for those 5 months.

There are plenty of dp's here showing regularly scheduled cli's without spend or with very low spend.  There are dp's showing mostly sp cli's but there are a few hp cli's as well. Ds for example.

You'll just have to experiment over time to see where your niche is with Comenity on each and every tl, which do not share the same results.

@Anonymous has recommended to me to record the date of every cli on every card (major and minors) to help figure out where we personally stand with Comenity in order to figure out our "average" cli schedules.  I do this and give it an extra day to a week.  @Anonymous  has a solid schedule ie. every 61 days on some of his tl's.   And again....ymmv. Smiley Tongue

One last thing:  Upon opening a new acct. and the day you receive your card in the mail, loggin on and creating an acct. has net an instant cli (sometimes a double dip too) by instantly smashing that luv button.  Not always, but it does happen.

@SPChaser

All excellent information, thanks so much. In your experience does Comenity like regular use of the card over PIF or do they like balances to report in terms of approving CLIs?

Re: Comenity CLI HP/SP Data Points

Just wanted to chime in here, I made the rounds with Overstock and Boscovs for increases. $2k each bringing Overstock to $30k and Boscovs to $29.5k both SP

Hardly any use on either card besides less then $100 on Overstock for Xmas and a suit purchase at Boscovs back in November which is the only spend in 20204EE5B2FA-5B50-4BFE-8A09-8183E482B5BE.jpeg

I was like HECK YEAH then remembering the information gold I received from these forums, I went on to push the button again and got another $750 CLI!!! Smiley Very Happy This giving a total of $8750 new limit!!! Thank you myfico forums for without you my CC game would be utterly lacking!
