Comenity SCT causes hard pull

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just tried the SCT at Victoria’s Secret.

I clicked checkout and immediately got an offer that said “PRE-APPROVED” for $350 pop up. So I followed the prompts. Only asked for last 4 of SS.

Got the 7-10 day message and immediately was alerted to a hard pull on Experian. I knew this might happen so not a big deal but definitely didn’t work as I’d hoped. I guess it’s better not to risk it at all.

I read many times if you get a pre-approved pop-up it will definitely be a soft pull. Not so for me

Yeah, SCT does not guarantee a SP approval. 

Good rule of thumb: If the card is not worth a HP to you, don’t risk it.

Something must have changed in your report from the time they pre-approved you and the time you tried to apply.

It could just be a verification letter.  You might still be "alive"
