Comenity cards- no CLI luv :(

My Comenity cards are all over one month old as of the 21st. I have statements generated for all of them, and tiny balances on them.

I hit the luv button on all four, immediately got the 7-10 day message. Even on my Gamestop card, which I've had for 6 months.

I'll try again once the next statement generates, but I don't have much faith in receiving further CLI's. I paid off all the small balances this morning.

I'll just SD these cards and close them in two years if I can't get any CLI out of them.

Comenity likes to see activity for at least 6 months, sometimes up to 9 depending on the card. Is there anything negative in your credit report?

If yes, that may be holding them back from giving you additional credit.

You do realize that it is going to take more than a month or two of history to warrant a CLI correct? Most Comenity store cards are going to take 6-9 statements for the first CLI. After that initial 6-9 month wait, it is generally 3-4 months in between

Exactly.

OP, while some folks may receive an additional CLI here or there within less than a month of having a particular account (such as when creating an online account), that doesn't translate into guaranteed CLI results for everyone.

A lot of their cards besides J Crew, Overstock, and HSN give small limits and do cli's after 6-9 months. I haven't had success with Overstock after 3 months but I had no charges either. J Crew got 2 $300 increases in the same time.

Scores and length of credit history matters particularly with Overstock. Those with a longer credit history and higher limits got higher starting limits and instant cli's at opening.

You've only had the accounts for a month. One statement has cut. Have you made a payment on J Crew and Overstock, let it post, and let a new statement generate after your payment? Do that and then apply for a cli ONLY on those 2 accounts.

Don't push so hard. Be glad you got the accounts and space your cli attempts one day after you new bill hits monthly.

I think it was 3 months before I got my first J Crew CLI and then only 1 for $200. After that I hit the button once a month for $200. After 6 months, hit that button at least six times at $200 a pop and now my CLIs are $400 each time. It takes a little patience for a lot of reward. Hang in there.

A month?

That's not really enough time to expect a CLI on a card. Comenity likes 6-9 months of usage and payments at least. Give it time.

Give it 6 months and then the CLI should start flowing.

In OPs defense, people around here *always* say they hit the CLI button right away after receiving the card and get increases. And people encourage new Comenity card holders (particularly Overstock and J Crew) to hit the love button right away. So I understand his/her confusion. The instant CLI was not the case for me and I didn't understand until I read up more and saw 6+ months is the norm.

Not true at all. For a variety of accounts, sure (Victoria's Secret, Express, Limited, etc.). However, you've been around the forums long enough to learn anecdotal evidence has shown that other individuals have indeed received a CLI on their Comenity store and co-branded cards shortly after being approved (Overstock, J Crew, Sportsman Guide, Travel Rewards to name a few).
