Consolidating Discover CL? CLI on new account?

I just opened my second Discover card. I have an IT card with a $3.7CL and a miles card with a $3k CL. Is it possible to

consildate the CL's to the miles card? I have the match on the miles card for the next year and a $6700 CL on it is more beneficial than

split CL's.

According to the most recent DPs, this is usually possible when both of your Discover accounts are eligible for a CLI.

But, if you just opened it today, you'd have to see if the UW team can close/reallocate the limits. I'm not sure if that department is open on the weekends, though, and/or whether that option is available after 24-48 hours.

Re: Consolidating Discover CL?

I've read:

1) You need to have requested (and be denied) for a CLI first on the card you want to move the CL to

2) You can only move 95% of the CL

Is it possible to ask for a Discover CLI on a new account?

I was approved for my second Discover card and am awaiting its arrival. Is it possible to ask for a CLI on a new

account once i receive it or would it be an automatic denial?

Things may have changed over the years. When I got my second and combined. I waited 90 days back in 2018? Then hit them up. Someone will correct me but I think (unless its changed) its 61, 91, and 121 days? But its not in stone. Miss Disco changes moods very often. But congrats on the 2cd card.

During COVID Discover implemented a policy of needing the account to be over a year old before being eligible for a CLI.

I don't know if this policy is still in effect.

I was curious because I wanted to combine the CL's but was told they couldn not do that and I'd have to ask for a CLI

on the new account.

This thread prompted me to get DW to ask for a CLI on her 8 mo old Disco card and they increased her limit from $3K to $6500!
So I can report that an increase is possible at less than one year!

Re: Is it possible to ask for a Discover CLI on a new account?

I opened a new Discover earlier this month. The SL line was lower than I was expecting at just $4k. I had to call in to activate the card as the app was giving me error messages. After activating the card, the CSR attempted a SP CLI. As I expected it was denied due to no activity/too new.
