Good Afternoon All,
So, this is going to sound strange and i wanted to post here about it as I don't know what else to do or where to vent my frustration. I applied for the Costco Citi Visa last week. I received an email saying I was declined because "We only allow one Coscto Anywhere Visa account per individual with your Costco Membership ID." Well, I just signed up for Costco the day I applied and it is a new membership and I have never had a membership before nor ever had a Costco Citi Visa before.
I called Citibank and they escalated me to Supervisors because they couldn't bypass the message. The Supervisor called me back within an hour and said they would look in to it and review it all for me. The next day, I recieved the same email with the same message. I called again and they assured me that no one has looked at my quandry yet and they'd be in touch. I haven't heard anything and this has to be the strangest reason I have ever been declined for a credit card, and the fact that it is inherently not true is the most frustrating part.
Has anyone else ever encountered this and if so, how did you defeat the Costco Citi Dragon?
Thanks for Listening,
Scott
🤔 it may be that the warehouse assigned a member ID duplicate number. Or if they re assign numbers after one member cancels, although that's a stretch, they haven't canceled it from the original owner. Just spit balling here...sorry this happened to you 😞

Right?!?!? That's what I was thinking as well, like they recycle the member numbers. It's really frustrating, lol.
Hi OP,
While I may not have that much trouble with you into getting a membership card, but I can tell you that I had beff when I upgraded my best buy card from store to visa. Both secured msg and general line didn't satisfied me so I went to complain to the company with the portfolio.
I would recommend getting into contact with someone over at the @AskCiti on twitter through DMs. They apparently have people other than just the core Citi when dealing with an issue.
My persistence paid off!
