I have been somewhat successful with the Comenity cards and I had been on the JJill site, put a few things in the cart, got to checkout and the approval invite appeared. I decide against it and closed it. Recently, their advertising appeared while browsing the Internet and a few items interested me so I decided that maybe I would open the account.....guess what the approval screen will not appear. I tried and tried. Finally I chatted with the rep and I told her I wanted to open an account but the pop up invite won't appear again and I did not want the HP.
SHE SAID, ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE APPROVAL INVITATION, THEY CAN PULL IT UP ON THERE END AND PROVIDE YOU WITH THE CREDIT CARD AND IT WOULD BE A SP!
Update.....called CS at JJill to open up the account and she pulled up my invite and asked for my 9 digit SSN. I questioned why when normally a preapproval ask for 4 digits. She then said she was unsure if it would be a hard pull or soft. So I decided not to move forward with the app. She did share that the preapprovals happen every 30 days from your offer date, so wait on it, lol! (For any Drake fans).
Depends on what the card is. It is NEVER a soft pull for a Visa and Mastercard from Comenity. It doesn't matter if you ue the shopping cart trick or not, still a hard pull. That changed a while ago.

Let me clarify, I was referring to JJill not being a hard pull. It IS a soft pull for the Sportsman Guide Visa. It was a HP for Modells MVP Visa and Total Rewards. I can't speak to any other Visa or Mastercards through Comenity. Thanks!
All Visa and Mastercards for Comenity (including Sportsman's Gide) are now hard pulls. That changed about a month ago.

Checking my Equifax monitoring report, my Sportsman's Guide Visa was opened on July 3rd, so perhaps I just made it under the wire. It is a Visa card so I would expect an HP but happy that it wasn't!
Not a problem, I understand!
I just wanted to make sure to put that information out there because even today in other threads (not here) I see people advising others to "use the Shopping cart trick " on Sportsman's Guide Visa -and that's incorrect information because now all Comenity Visa and Mastercards are HP since that changed.

I'm guilty...I thought Sportsmans was still a SP. I got lucky and got all of my Commenity VISAs with SP's except for Total Rewards ![]()
