Credit Karma AMEX Pre-approval vs AMEX Pre-Approval??

Greetings All,

Quick Question...

How valid is a pre-approval pushed through Credit Karma? I already feel like their scoring system is whacky and inaccurate so I'm super skeptical of this. I'm even more skeptical because when I go through the pre-approval page on the AMEX website I get no offers. I guess I pose this question to see if anyone has had this happen before and what's been your experience. I'm trying to continue building my profile before I dive into the AMEX world heavy... but still curious since it is a pre-approval lol

CK is pure marketing, not pre-qual or pre-approved

I've never seen a pre-approval on Credit Karma.  Where are you seeing the term "pre-approved" on there?

CK does in fact have preapprovals. In fact right now I have one for the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard.  Only thing is, I already have that card.   😂

There is a section under the CC Marketplace for "Pre-approved offers"  with a green banner "YOU'RE PRE-APPROVED" and an annotation that 90% of pre-approved applicants get the card.   You may or may not see the same info listed under the other relevant categories like "Top picks". 

I would trust a preapproval that came directly from American Express much more than I would one from CK.

CK does in fact have preapprovals. In fact right now I have one for the HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard.  Only thing is, I already have that card.   😂

There is a section under the CC Marketplace for "Pre-approved offers"  with a green banner "YOU'RE PRE-APPROVED" and an annotation that 90% of pre-approved applicants get the card.   You may or may not see the same info listed under the other relevant categories like "Top picks". 

I would trust a preapproval that came directly from American Express much more than I would one from CK.

I see it now, thanks!  I had to scroll way over to the right in one of the categories to find it.  Out of tons of cards that only say "Excellent Approval Odds", I only have ONE that says "pre approved".  And guess what, it's the exact same HSBC card you mentioned.  Something smells fishy with HSBC and CK to me.

I have finally graduated from the CK credit1 offers, on to bigger and better cards I already have

I'm sure @K-inBoston has a much better profile than mine and even I have been pre approved for that NASCAR card. 😂😂😂
