I checked my mail and saw that in addition to the letter from Discover that I was expecting from them which explains that I was turned down for the Discover It card because of a deliquency from 2011, I received not just one but TWO invitations to apply for...wait for it... the Discover It card. -__- I'm pretty sure that it's just a generic invitation they send out to everyone, but it's so ironic to get mail turning me down for a card that I'm being invited to apply for just an envelope later. This company loves playing with my emotions. I applied in the first place because of the invitation only to get turned down and now this.
*I know it's nothing personal and that an invitation or prequaification doesn't necessarily mean that someone will get approved for a card.
There have to do their marketing you know
...
I tend to laugh at the number of trees that were cut down given how often Discover sends those mailers out. There are some weeks I get (2) in 7 days and more often than not I get (1) from them each week.
New thing to track going forward: I'll pile those up and see what the volume turns out to be.
LOL, same thing happened to me this week, but with Cap1 auto loan. Applied for auto loan, got denied. 2 days later I get mailer for auto loan pre-qual.

I never received anything in the mail from Discover until I applied online. Then I got two mailers to apply for the same IT card I was just approved for.
That's funny. I've never received anything in the mail from Discover, probably because I've never applied for anything with them. It's weird though, that they would target mailers to people who are already applying for their card.
I had mailers come after my card came. lol What is up with Discover?
