DC/Venture/Amex Approval Odds

Hello everyone!

My spring tuition is coming up in a few weeks and after scholarships I am left with about $1200 due. I plan on paying off once my reimbursement for this semester comes thru from my workplace. I current have a QS with 1k limit and a Discover It 2.5k and a Belk store card 5k.

Id like to take advantage of a sign up bonus/add a good card to the portfolio, as this is money I would spend either way. So here are some of my thought processes:

The DC has my eye simply because it's straight 2%, no AF. For my spend the extra .5% may not yield much more cash back.

The venture is known to give high limits, and I would like to break the 5k barrier with a major bank, and get visa sig benefits 😎

As far as Amex, I could debate in my head back and forth for hours on end between a charge, ED, or BCE 😜 Or just more or less getting in with Amex.

My scores are in my signature,

Income is 55k

AAoA is 1.4 Years

Oldest Acc 2.3 yrs

INQs 7 TU, 8 EX, 25 EQ (12 for car loan)

1 Auto loan from 10/14

8% UTIL reporting

No Pre Quals for any of the cards 😒

Monthly spend:

Gas $400

Dining $500

Supermarkets $250

Travel about $500 every other month

Re: DC/Venture/Amex Approval Odds

If youre going for Credit Limit I would suggest the Venture. You travel every other month and the typical starting limit is 5k.  Check Capital One prequal and see if it pops up. AMEX and DC are iffy with their starting limits. Could be high, could be low. I would suggest getting your current limits higher and letting your AAoA increase a little more. Im sure AMEX would approve you with the scores, but based on small history and current limits, I dont imagine it being higher. Although I could be wrong. Every app is interpreted differently.
