Hello,
I've recently completed an app spree (BoA Cash Rewards, Cap1 Quicksilver, Chase Ritz, Chase Sapphire, Chase Reserve, and Discover IT) I had planned to go into the garden, but have been thinking more and more about the Delta Reserve. Been with Amex since 2009, currently have a Blue Cash at 40kCL, and cancelled my Delta Gold card a couple years ago. Always had a great relationship with Amex and have run a lot through with them. Should I wait a couple months for my scores to go back up before app'ing? MYFICO report shows my EX at 712 from 721 after my spree, however on one of the approvals I got they showed an EX score of 679. No problems waiting, but I'm only 1700ish MQM's and $760 MQD's short of keeping my Gold status.
Thank you in advance!
Apologies if this is in the wrong section, it should have probably went into applications.
The AMEX delta card is the easiest to qualify for.

Regardless of being Gold, Platinum, or Reserve?
For gold yes. Reserve? not sure but should be the same criteria but wow, what a hefty AF.

I suspect the actual criteria are similar, however while you can get approved for the Delta Gold with a small credit line, due to the CARD act that might be a problem with the Delta Reserve.
If you were to get a $1k credit line, the AF alone would be 45% of that, which I don't think is possible (I even recall some people purposely lowering their CL on high AF cards to get out of the AF). Other than this I would expect the requirements to be similar.
Good luck if you decide to move forward, and let us know how it goes! ![]()

You could apply for the card, and the bonus MQM would help maintain gold, but the MQD will still come up short unless you buy an actual airline ticket and fly before the end of the year. The spend on the card would need to be $25k in the next few days to clear the MQD requirement.
One alternative is to buy a ticket to go somewhere in December, without getting the Reserve card. Just about any travel of $800 ticket will boost you over the Gold threshold. An expensive option, but some people travel for the holidays.
Another thought is, don't even go for the Gold status in 2016. You will have Silver for 2017, your excess MQM will roll over to start your journey to a quick Silver. MQD will not roll over, you start from zero MQD. Then you can work on Gold in 2017, perhaps by apping the Reserve to contribute MQM, then run $25,000 through the Reserve in 2017 to take care of the entire MQD requirement, regardless of status you want to achieve.
Thank you very much for the information!
Personally, I'd get the Amex Platinum card. Still get lounge access and 5X point on ticket purchases plus all the other travel benefits. A better return on a $450.00 AF. Best travel card out there if you fly Delta in my opinion.
Great point Berk. I was thinking the same thing, but had leaned towards the Delta card for the companion ticket and MQMs. I realize now, I don't remember why I cancelled my Delta Gold. Anyways, at this point do y'all think I best wait given my recent new aquisation of cards, or will my internal record with Amex that has been spotless over ride that?
Thank you!
