My thoughts as well. Did it specifically say "YourNameHere, You are Pre-Approved"?  If that was the case, I'd deem that worthy of a recon.

The exact literature says, Good News, you are successfully Pre-Qualified for the following card offers and lists the Cash Magnet

"Pre-qualified" and "pre-approved" are subtly but distinctly different things. "Pre-qualified" simply means you've passed the initial screening and are likely to be granted a card upon application, providing that the HP results are to the issuer's satisfaction. "Pre-approved" offers, which usually come with a single-figure APR quote, mean that you're almost certain to be approved providing nothing has significantly changed on your credit report to the negative by the time you submit your application.

As mine stated pre-qualified, I am apparently in the category of those unlucky. I would have taken the HP.

Re: Denied after PreQual

Forget the distinction between the two terms. Smiley Very Happy Try recon and report the results back here, if it's a priority for you. That is if you can with the pre-qualification status.

Some of us are curious about the recon.

Re: Denied after PreQual

As far as I know, a strong and hard pre-approval for existing AX customers is when you check for pre-qual while logged in and shows you the cards you prequal for, once you click apply now, it should say, “Congrats you’re pre-approved” right after and all you fill in is your income.

Re: Denied after PreQual

That was my thought as well. Any time I have looked into the so called 'pre qualified cards' I hit the apply button and see if it states pre-approved or talks about expanding my membership.
