So I surpassed the 5 yr bk7 discharge date, applied and the only reason showing for denying app is BK.
I called to recon, and told by rep, I won't get approved with a bk showing on my report. Amex was not IIB.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up about my experience. thank you

Thank for sharing your dp's. Sorry for the denial.
61 months post filing. As I've mentioned a many of times around here...my BK13 is on my EX report and I've had several Amex cards and as of this very moment I'm pre-approved for anything I click on. BK doesn't mean that Amex is unattainable and the rep that told the OP that is wrong.

The rep told you wrong, my 2010 BK is still on my report for another year or so and I have 2 Amex cards. And use the Amex pre-qualifier instead of cold app'ing, it's rock solid. Most folks say you can be approved at 61 months post discharge. I didn't get any pre-qualified offers until after 6 years - perhaps I might have been approved at 61 months, but they didn't offer pre-qual offers for me until 73 months, and I wasn't going to app until I saw a pre-qual. Amex not IIB.
I agree that the rep was perhaps wrong, we app'd after 7 years from our BK7, and was approved for $10k (EX FICO 8 around 728 if I remember correctly). Did the 3X CLI a few weeks ago, and got an increase to $30k.
But AMEX was not included in our BK. If the OP had AMEX IIB, then that may be why the rep made that statement?
Took me ten years and a letter requesting reconsideration, but I was approved for Amex Gold; I haven't added to that right now and am gardening; think I may want to upgrade to Plat after a year (you can't change a card for a year, aparently). I'd wait but there is hope :-)
