Denied for Account Comment?

I was recently denied for the Citi ThankYou Preferred for College Students. When so called, the lady said that the main reason i was denied was because there is a disputed account in my Experian credit report. I pulled my Experian and my Discover It has a commend that says something along the lines of disputed card data. What happened is a few months ago I lost my Discover card and I was sent a new one with a new account number (on my credit report the new and old accounts show as separate accounts both with a comment that the old account was disputed).

Why does my credit report show a lost card as a disputed account? And why is this causing me to be denied credit?

Well, I would call Discover and ask them to fix it. I lost my Walmart store card a few months back. The new account shows with the same open date & CL as the old one, while the old one is in my list of closed accounts with the comment "card lost or stolen". I think that's how yours should show.
