Surprise, suprise Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite and Chase Amazon Prime Rewards sent me a denial email. FICO Experian: 808
Citi: "You have submitted multiple applications for credit" (Update: Didn't bother with recon since it was prob best to not have so many new accounts added to my credit report)
Chase: "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us" (Update: Approved after recon)
I'm gonna attempt reconsideration. Would telling them that this will be my primary card suffice? Any tips on what else I should say.
If you're over 5/24 (5 or more revolving accounts within the last 24 months), Chase will be a no go as per their policy.
Citi it sounds like you haven't waited the appropriate amount of time in between applications.
You can try recon with both, but I don't see it going anywhere. Good luck if you do pursue it. BTW, telling them it'd be your primary card wouldn't make a difference.
Darn! Regarding Citi, I figured suggesting having loyalty to that one card would help since my credit score, credit utilization, and zero late payments ever should suggest that I'm at least somewhat of a responsible cardholder. I did request & recieve a CLI on my only Citi card last month, wonder if that raises a "red flag" for them. Also, prior to the denial I applied for the Citi Double Cash card but was also swiftly denied. I figured I try the AA card because of the annual fee and they might be inclined to approve because of that.
Oh well, I'll report back on what they say. Thanks for your help

@OmarGB9 , Are you 100% sure about that? ^^^^^^^^
Of course, I am kind of known for being an "outlier"

While it's definitely true that there have been approvals for the Chase Amazon Card despite being over 5/24, that's more the exception rather than the rule.
Update: Called Chase for reconsideration and was approved for $21.6K
Tried calling Citi but they said I had to wait for the letter to arrive. The email I received from them this morning about submitting multiple applications was basically referencing my Double Cash denial earlier that day. It was not referencing the reason for the Double Cash denial which I have no use for since I was approved for the WF Active Cash right after. If reconsidered for that card I'll take it but if they need to do another HP for the Citi AAdvantage card I'll say don't bother.

Congrats on the recon! Guess you were one of the lucky few who can bypass the 5/24 rule.

Please post an update depending on the outcome of your reconsideration attempt with Citi (once you receive the letter).
Though, keep in mind in that a variety of cases loyalty or the amount of an AF has no bearing on a lender's decision.
chase amazon isnt a lost cause - yes they have 5/24 but people like myself have gotten this card with way over 5.24 ... i think i was at like 8/24 at the time of my approval
nvm - saw u called and got approved lol congrats
