Harvey, I wish that hadn't happened to you. With the reason they gave, can I ask about your average age of accounts? Congrats on getting the PC with your Barclaycard though.
Sorry to hear about your denial. Congrats on the PC ![]()

I'm sorry to hear about your denials. ![]()
I can offer a data point on the Amex denial, though. Sometimes the reasons offered for denials are 'bogus', but in this case I believe the reason they offered you is legit. My own Green and BCP were approved when my score was 695, so with a 711 it definitely wasn't your score holding you back.
I agree with the others... while this isn't the result you wanted, it's not really 'bad' in that it's easily remedied... just hang out in the garden for a bit, and you'll be good in no time!
(Also, for what it's worth, my first Amex application back in the 90s was denied as well... less than a year later, I tried again and got in.
)
Sorry to hear... It is a good time now for you to hold off applying for anything else. Time and patience are your best friend when it comes to credit.

Sorry to here that. I'm going through the steps now to get a Amex BCE. I applied Nov27th. and forgot to take the Experian Security Freeze off, and the Amx Status page said "In Progess". Today Nov30th it still said the same. So, I called and the lady informed me that they could not pull Experian. I explained why, and went and unfroze it. Called back and luckily the same exact lady answered the phone, she actaully chuckled because we got connected back. She input the information, and for some reason the system did not give me a denial, or approval. She said she would review it and make a decision, and for me to either call or check the status page 24-48 hours later.
I have a short 11 month history, so that may sink me.
Chase Freedom, Discover it, Capital One Secured Platinum, Chase Slate.
TU = 737 Vantage Score (clean report)(6 inqs), EQ = 697 (clean report)(7 inq;s), EX = 640 ( I-1987 Student Loan balance of $700 still on there)(6 Inq's)
Capital One Credit Tracker Score = 735
Discover It FICO = 710
Chase Slate Experian = 639
AAoA = 10 months.
Started out at 520, 11 months ago.
If successful with AMX BCE, I'm gardening until 2017!
Hi Ranger6591
Interested to know how you got one with the amex app. My wife is pre-qual'd for three offers on amex(gold, everyday and blue). She has a long history as an authorised user with TU, but only a few months with a secured card in her own right for the other two bureaus. Good credit scores 700+.
Interested to hear if you were approved or if you or anyone has thoughts on her approval likelihood.
Thanks!
