I applied for the Deserve EDU credit card. I hesitated when I was asked to link my bank account. Later, I received a pre-qualification email so I decided to continue. No instant approval. Told I would hear back in 5 days or less. Three days later, I received a decline email. The email stated 1) I was an existing customer and 2) I had applied more than once. My FICO 9 was 688 at the time.
I do have another credit card with this bank already (old subprime card from when I was starting my rebuild 2 years ago). I called customer service for clarification. Customer service was horrible. They couldn't find my application or any trace that I had ever applied. Based on that clueless phone call, I contacted my bank and changed BOTH my online banking username and password. Those are the two things that Deserve asks for during the app. No need to get caught up in their upcoming data breach. Also, note to self, remember to cancel that old subprime card from this bank.
