I should have known better and held off on applying for this but for the first time in a long time, I have had less than 5 CapitalOne cards and was finally able to apply.
I thought they were going off EQ fico 04, although with CapitalOne it can be a blackbox with approval scoring but my fico 04’s are great, so I thought why not.
Fico 08- TU 737, EQ 692, EX 701
Fico 04- TU 759, EQ 721, EX 711
The scoring page does not indicate which type of Experian score they are using but I pulled a fresh report and it matches my EX FICO bankcard 3 score.
For some reason I am heavily penalized on the EX bankcard scores but not the others. I am also wondering if I entered my income information in wrong. I would have put $92,000.00.
Denial reason number 1 is strange because its not true, Denial reason 2 I can undertand, and Denial 3 I am second guessing myself on.
I am thinking about a recon via letter but don’t know if It’s worth it. what would be worth it is COOLING off on my apps/ which today I am haha.
Don't know how often Capital One recons are succesful, though you stand to lose nothing by trying.
Your denial sounds like the generic "you need to garden" kind that only time can fix. Wait 6 months and try again. A year is even better. It is frustrating, I know, but that's likely the best option.
Thanks KDM, you are right.
I'm not a fan of the first denial bullet point. Hopefully a recon will help out.
Cap1 scores are all over the place.. It is suppose to be 04's, but time and time again we see some weird scores they come up with.. Maybe a version of vantage in some cases or internal.. Who knows.. Never heard of them using 03, I sure hope not as my 03 is horrid! Granted I was pre-qualifiied and got big limits on mine with horrid 03 Score. They didn't provide me a score that I saw when I got my cards in the mail.. Thought they had to provide scores if you didn't get best terms? Is this not true? I got 17.9 on both which isn't best APR. Granted the score wouldnt mean much as it is a crap shoot to figure out what they are using

Sorry DD. ive seen this picture before Dont knock your self out over what cap one says. They just make things up i think. It does not say it is a fico. this is some other score based off your experian report. but basically when they say not enough balances. you are not profitable is what they are saying.
Im going to let this one go. try again in 6 months and see if I have a prequal. Cold apps dont do me well at cap1
