Disco Pre Approved | 3 options

I finally have a pre approved offer from Disco, for one of three cards:

- Disco It Cash Back
- Disco It Chrome
- Disco It Miles

No AF, 0% intro for 14 months on purchases & BT, then 22.99% variable APR.

I don’t have DP to share yet because I haven’t pulled my 3B yet. Waiting another day or two for a $8k+ payment on a PIF account to hit my 3B then I’ll purchase a 3B Ultimate to review & share with y’all. I believe my F8 scores are just over 700 across the board right now, before the PIF account refreshes. The statement cut on Thursday.

Goal: increase my aggregate revolving CL and sweep a couple TL balances into a BT card.

Your thoughts on these 3 cards I have to choose from?

Re: Disco Pre Approved | 3 options

  • Discover it regular - you get max $1500 per quarter for 5% cashback in select categories, rotating
  • Discover it chrome - you get max $1000 per quarter for 2% cash back in gas station and restaurants
  • Discover it miles - basically a plain 1.5% cash back card, miles cannot be transferred to airlines/hotels, worth 1 cent per mile and you can deposit as cash into your bank

Choosing which one more or less depends on what categories you spend more, and what other cards you have or will have. For example I would go with the regular 5% rotating just to take advantage of the extra cash back and $1500 per quarter instead of $1000.

I have other cards such as Chase Ultimate Rewards cards with point value 1.5 cent per point or better (depending on how they are used), and also have cards that earn unlimited 2x or 3x in gas and restaurants so the Chrome won't be of any use to me. If you have regular large non-category spendings the plain 1.5% cash back might make sense but still can be substituted by Cap1 QS which you already have, or Chase Freedom Unlimited. So looks like the 5% rotating version fits you well.

@PlyrStar93:

Thank you for the info. Yep 5% would make it the best reward card in my collection, so I will go with that. I have an offer in my Amex account to upgrade my BCE to a BCP card. I am going to go with that option for the 6% grocery rewards. I don’t really spend much money while I’m getting out of debt, but I will enjoy the 5% from Disco!

Are you also being offered the cashback match in the first year? That 5% becomes 10% cash back.

Love how your being strategic with this app and ensuring the PIF accounts are taken cared off. Keeping my fingers crossed you get a bit of a score bump up and it will help you with a bigger SL/lower apr!

Re: Disco Pre Approved | 3 options

Thank you. Yes I’ve been waiting about two weeks for the two PIFs to refresh on my 3B. I relied on the Wallet Hub app daily refresh to let me know the 2nd PIF updated, then ran Credit Karma and saw a 72 point TU FAKO score boost. EQ didn’t update so I hit up the 3B dispute portals to manually review the balances there. EX refreshed today also. EQ says the report is dated today but still showing both PIF accounts haven’t been paid yet. So I’m hesitant to drop $40 on a 3B Ultimate report if EQ is going to be out of date.

The struggle is real. Good news: received $17k in SP CLIs between those two PIF TLs just now. Smiley Wink
