Hi Fico Fam,
I tried to apply for a CLI with Discover (AGAIN) only to be denied again. I've had the card since July' 21 and just thought it might be different 8 months in. Nope!!! I saw someone who got an increase recently on their 7th statement, so I thought just maybe it might work. Nope!
My actual statement cuts tomorrow, so maybe I should've waited. I will try again in July when I make a year. They just gave my sister an increase of $2800 for good long history with them (she's had the card for 9 years) and her scores are in the high 500's (because of Nelnet reporting late payments).
Now my ranting....
My score just dropped 31 points because Rooms 2 Go reported 100% utilization, even though I paid them. Ugh! Only a $2200 CL and denied for CLI because I haven't had card long enough (got it in Jan). All my scores were over 700 but just dropped to the 690s because that.
Good News...
I just got an Amazon Prime Sig Visa with $9k, put $4k of that on CFU-now $4500 CL from $500 and Macy's just increased my CL to $9500, so I'm hoping once all that reports my score goes back up and I can get an increase on Discover. Don't plan to get any more new credit for 3 years.
Currently my utilization went from 4% to 13% because of Rooms 2 Go.
Dont feel too bad. Last week i got denied by mysterious ms disco and i have my card 9 months.
No rhyme or reason to the madness. Some they give, some they don't.
Hi Shaed251, don't take the denial too personal as Discover kept denying me a CLI until recently but they eventually gave me a $500.00 increase . . . so I will just take baby steps with them until I'm satisfied with the limit.
I don't think there's a rhyme or reason with it. I was increased I believe 3x in the last 8 months. Before that, I hadn't been increased in forever despite having 100% on-time payments and credit scores in the high 600 - low 700 range. Now I'm at high 700 - low 800 range and utilization at 6% instead of what was 30, so maybe that helps.
I'm not sure of your overall utilization, but I would wait until it's below 30% before asking again. Or wait until July.
As for Nelnet, I believe you can fight to have those late payments changed to on time. You would need to contact them and expect it to be a pain, but it will be worth it once done.
TY. That is all good info and I am going to help my sister work on Nelnet for sure. They can correct it, just a matter of making them go back in their records to find the information they need.

You might just explained why you didnt get a CLI. Missy is a jealous one and wants to be your go to card. All these new things may have done you in. For now.
