So as the title states Discover did a soft pull on me for their stand alone credit score product and came back as a 657. the apply for a secured thingy on the bottem of the page disappeared and I got a specific APR. 23.49 and 6 mos BT horrible I know but I was like hey its not a range and this might be the time to pull the trigger. Went ahead and apped and waited the 60 seconds and I get the whole unable to approve due to blah blah blah. I knew my utilizaion was bad but then I saw that they hard pulled both experian (on top of soft pull) and Equifax
!!!. super upset right now since I had a specific plan for each card on each bureau and that sorta screws up an app im gonna do next month when util reports 8 percent. Anyway long story short I havent checked to see if this is the norm just thought I would give a heads up.

Yep it seems to be the norm for Discover to pull at least 2 CB for apps. Now which 2 they pull will vary from which the state you reside in. I want to reapply with them in a couple of months because of my first app was a higher Apr and low limit stagnation. But I really don't want a double pull 😕
I apped and was approved in June 2016 and Discover only pulled EQ for me here in Nevada. Perhaps they have changed their process. Quick question, I see you have a Virgin America card in your sig, how did you manage that with a BK on file? I thought Comenity was a no go with a BK showing? I'd love to have that card as a way back in with Alaska/BOA.
that there is a long story...but in a nutshell Equifax split my credit file back in oct of 2015 and I went on a mad app spree since I was showing no bk no negatives and a 720 credit score. the weird part is Chase approved me for my southwest and Disney cards even with pulling experian showing the bk and all the IIB?!?!. Equifax eventually fixed it and reality set back in. So as of right now almost 2 years post bk and 1 and half year after app spree I've been fortunate to get only 1 AA which was my Cabela's card. I knock on wood everyday and check my accounts every morning before I even get fully awake
The journey of a credit rebuilder is a blast!
that it is. I've also decided to hold on to that one hoping it would convert to get in with BOA. I'm skiddish with all the Comenity cards I have...I didnt even include the Hidden Paypal 2k line I have
. I have my road map laid out for April/May on apps to replace them once util updates and mortgage shows paid off.
Disco recently approved me via HP EQ only - i'm in Michigan.
All apps w/ disco are HP right?

Discover pulled EQ and EX for me too last year. They pull a second if your profile is marginal.
That sounds like a reasonable assessment and is likely the case for many creditors that are known to pull either one or two bureaus. Last June Discover only pulled TU for me with a TU score around 730 at the time.
