Two questions:
I am thinking about applying for the Discover IT card. I am still going to do some more research before I make my decision. Right now my go to card is the NFCU CashRewards. With my current card's, my highest CL is $8000 with NFCU. I have 2AMEX card's with a $5,000 and $6,000 CL. I have a Citi with a $3,000 CL and have had that card since 2007 and a Chase Card with a $500 limit (I have burned them in the past, I am scared to ask them for a CLI). Then I have a Capital One card that has $750. I also have a VS and Belk card. I only asked for those because of their promotion. Oh yea, and a Haverty and WF Ashely Furniture. The only one that has a balance is the NFCU. Its less then 5% UTL. My toal CL is $45K. My anual income is around $75k
My FICO 8 scores are TU: 682 EQ:689 EX:706. What are the chances that I will get approved for more than $5,000 CL? I am trying to decide if I should just stay in the garden and keep nurturing the card's I do have. Also, I am thinking about asking for a CLI with Chase. I have never asked for one with this card and I have had it just as long as my citi card. The problem with the Chase is I have to call and I am too nervous to.
Any advice on what I should do?
I don't want a HP right now..especially because of my history with Chase. I think I will hold tight on the CLI with Chase.
I think your Discover approval would be for around $5k, plus or minus a tad. Are you doing everything you can using all of the "gaming" tricks out there to maximize your credit score? AZEO? Do you have an open installment loan and if not, have you considered the SSL technique? Do you have any negative items on your credit report and if so have you tried getting them removed? If you have nailed all of these things down and your scores are what they are, no need to hesitate in apping. However, if you CAN still work on these things and execute them it could result in all 700+ scores, which of course could mean a more favorable approval result with perhaps a CL of around $10k.
