Hi, I had moved to the USA last july and had trouble aquiring credit.
My wife added me to her US Bank with a CL of $15k as an AU. I then applied 2 months later for the Amazon Chase Credit Card but got declined (they pulled Experian, maybe TU). I then called up and they did a recon and declined it again. Their reason was few revolving accounts, and not enough accounts.
I then applied for Discover It Student card and got approved with a CL of $500 (super low as I bill $2000ish a month to the US Bank one).
My Experience score is 773 (FICO score through my bank) and my Equifax score is 741 (FICO score through myFICO score watch). I don't know my TransUnion one. These scores don't include my new Discover card on them yet.
No one has pulled my Equifax score yet. I have a couple of pulls on my Equifax: Braintree( Credit Card Processing for business), Chase (Amazon card - declined) and Discover (approved).
What should I do next, how to get a higher CL of my Discover and when should I apply for other cards and what type of card should I apply for?
Also when will they stop asking me to verify details everytime I apply? I had to scan my SSN Card and my Drivers Licence for Discover.
Braintree, actually Chase didn't but I assumed it was because my details had been used with Amazon.com for a long time.
You can ask for a CLI on your Discover at 90 days. Sometimes they give auto CLI before the 90 days is up.
My DW started a year ago from 0 credit (not even AU) with only Discover IT Student and BoA Cash Rewards secured card, both at $500. Now she has cards at 5k but the discover still at $500, don't want to waste a HP for a limited increase.
Amex like clean reports. Chase remove all AU cards to make a decision, so don't apply for Chase until you have more than 1 year with your own cards.
If your SSN is less than 2 years old, then some lenders will ask for it and DL. Don't know if that is the problem. Do you have your credit reports?
