I filed bk7 in May 2019 and included Discover for about $25k (and it was a relatively new card). Every once in a while I would go to their prequal page, knowing I wasn't going to get back in, most recently about a month ago. Last week I got an "invite" in my email to see if I was preapproved. Expecting the normal denial, I filled out the infor and this time was told that my application was almost done, given a reference number and told that Equifax verification services might contact me. They did and requested I fill out an IRS 4506C form (I believe) for income verification. How long does it normally take to hear the final decision after submitting the form?
Thanks in advance.
Over the last several years the turnaround time from the IRS has varied quite a bit, and while I haven't seen any recent data points the last I knew from AMEX applicants that if the request were made and authorized electronically it was taking about 2 weeks to get a final decision. Hopefully someone with a recent data point can chime in with their experience.
And yes it should have been a 4506-C, that's the correct form nowadays if a 3rd party is requesting access to your federal tax returns. The 4506-T still exists but was reclassified to only be used if you are the one requesting a copy if your own tax return.
I'm wondering if Discover has/is asking everyone now to do the 4506-C form. I read a bunch of threads on here and reddit where people had to do it even with Secured Cards
New applicants all the way to Discover card holders for years.
So far I have not been asked and my Discover Secured Card is on the way. But based on what I have read about this I am pretty much bracing for the dreaded "Equifax" email soon. I hope I'm wrong though and I can get my card and use it right away.
Thank you. It's been over a week now and I still haven't heard anything. The two weeks might not be wrong.
