Admittedly, the first requests were too early, but this one should've had a chance just going by what I see happening so often on here.
One interesting thing, the first couple of times I asked the denial reason was "Insufficient Experience with Current Discover Card Credit Limit," but last time (not today) it was "Serious Delinquency, and Public Record or Collection Filed, Number of Accounts with Delinquency, and Length of Time Revolving Accounts have been Established." I don't have nor have ever had any delinquent accounts prior to nor post-BK. Maybe I better order my full TU report, but as of the last time I checked it was all reporting correctly.
I feel like sticking my Discover card in the sock drawer...
I believe the reason you're getting that denial reason is the bankruptcy.
That would be a valid reason, for sure, but they did approve me for the card. They must like something. Maybe because I had a Discover card in the past, but closed it in good standing with good payment history. That was back when it wasn't accepted as widely as it is now.
Your TU is your lowest score, which is what Discover uses. Also, your "ALMOST" 1 year post bk.
Patience, OP, you'll get there. DISCOVER ROCKS!
Best credit wishes to you!

I didn't say they didn't like you.
I just said that that's the reason for the reason code you're getting.
When they give you adverse action, such as a CLI request denial, they give you some of the negative reason codes from the FICO report. That reason is pulled directly from the FICO report, and I'm sure it's being triggered by the bankruptcy filing.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but they didn't give me those codes the first time I asked for a CLI. My whole point was just that they gave me one code the first time, and then a completely different code the next. I just thought that was odd since the BK has been there the whole time.

1. When they give you the reason code "Insufficient Experience with Current Discover Card Credit Limit," it means they did no review and denied you without even taking a soft pull because the required time hadn't elapsed.
2. This time they did a review, so they pull the top negative FICO reason codes.
I don't want to be a Negative Nellie, but you'd better get used to that code because it will be with you for years to come.

Okay, that makes sense. Didn't realize the first two times they really didn't do a SP, or look at whichever on they had on file.
No, you're not being a Negative Nellie, that's just life after BK. Something of which I am already aware.
I know I should be the last person to comment on this particular thread...
1. If you get the Not enough experience with credit.... You hit the CLI button too early usually....
2. I tend to wait untill after Discover does the pulls for the FICO score before hitting the CLI button...
3. For me.. I wait untill a few days after the statement date and usually do my first payment (im not a fan of autopay but i always make a slightly over min payment right after the statement....
4, Then I hit the button...
Really wish i could spread the love. and I predict my CLI express is coming to an end, (waiting for the results of a CLI push now actually)....
but hang in there,,, Youll eventually get discovers attention... esp if you use it, and redeem a reward occasionally...
Hang in there folks...
The trains just a bit late...

Thanks, joltdude! I will stick to your plan and always wait for my score increase, statement, and payment after statement to post. I have been using it for a big chunk of my regular spend, so hopefully they like that. So, they like it when you redeem some cashback? For some reason I like seeing it grow each month, but maybe I'll have to redeem a little bit! Again, thanks for the encouragement! I just need to be more patient... ![]()

Hey, argardner81! We'll get there. I notice we both have low TU scores. With gardening mine has been going up, and I hope yours is too. The great part about my impatient rant is that it has resulted in all these responses by the awesome people on here lending great advice and encouragement. ![]()
