Discover preapproval - denied

I've been trying to get in with Discover since my husband got his account. Kept getting the secured card offer but passed because I have plenty of credit. Last week got a preapproval for IT so I applied.... denied. Is this common? How long should I wait to check again?

If you apply within 30 days from the last application, it will be denied automatically

Yes, pre-approval solicitations can get declined if anything has changed in your profile that no longer meets their elegibility requirements or criteria. It's usually stated in the fine print of any pre-approval offer.

Sorry to hear that.

Curious, did you have a solid APR on the pre-qual or a range?  (ex..  APR 14-24%)

Interesting that you were able to check for a pre-qual, for some reason i can't right now.

It's been a week of getting this message after i click submit... "Opps. Something went wrong."Disc.png

I honestly don't remember. I did notice if I try the prequal page with my husband's info.. I get that same Oops message. My guess is it happens to those who already have an account with them? I will go check the prequal page again and see what happens.

Re: Discover preapproval - denied

That's usually what we want when were looking at pre-quals. Has anything changed on your reports recently.
If you haven't already, i would look into if Disc has a reconsideration phone number. There is a thread here in the forums that have a list of all the different credit card company recon lines

Recon line was useless, basically said they don't do recons. Not sure if that's true or not. Declined for too many recent inquiries. Guess I'll wait it out. Ironically enough, when I got off the phone and rechecked the prequal, now it's only showing a secured card.

Discover reconsiderations are hit or miss and they're not usually known for successful results via that route, unlike Barclays, BOA, or Chase, for instance.
