just wondering if getting pre-approved for Citi Double Cash be adding up to 5/24 if it's a SP? I'm currently 4/24.

I dont understand your question
Are you asking if checking preapprovals will somehow affect the number of cards you have, or are you talking about applying for DC?
Preapprovals are SPs, but once you apply, there will be a HP or two, and while HP wouldnt add anything to your whatever/24 status, new account definitely will.
ah thanks I was under the asumption that some cards can be SP only (*secured cards), but it's applications only and will be HP later on.

Some lenders will issue new cards based on SP, but those lenders are in the minority.
Citi is not one of them.
If adding a Chase card is important to you, then I would not apply for anything prior to that goal.
Chase's 5/24 rule is based upon accounts opened, not inquiries. Regardless of whether it's a hard or soft pull, the account will show once opened.
Not to hijack the thread and sorry if it is considered that. But for clarity, do they count store cards as well? I got two store cards using the SCT. Both soft pulls but did get the two new accounts. Will this count against 5/24?
More than likely yes. While there are some who insist store cards do not count against 5/24, most of the evidence suggests they do.

Yes, they count, they dont just go off how many hps one has because if they did, many more would be instantly denied lol. Not all hps lead to new accounts. If you opened up 5 card accounts within 24 months you wont be eligble until one of those cards passes the time table.
