I agree with the others.  If the Discover pre-qualifier tool were anything like Pinocchio, it would poke you right in the eye when you click submit Smiley Very Happy

Re: Does the DiscoverCard prequalifier ever lie?

Yep, just reverted to type (I'm in software QA) and entered completely bogus values.  Apparently my cat is qualified for the Discover IT card.  So that's pretty awesome.

Isn't cat food one of the rewards categories? Smiley Tongue

I find your post particularly offensive and disrespectful!

My two Weimaraners would easily qualify for Visa Black based on their pedigree alone

Re: Does the DiscoverCard prequalifier ever lie?

I'll add a caveat to what the others have said:

If it gives you a hard APR figure, it's more likely to be a real preapproval.  If you get a range APR, it means nothing.  It is misleading but if you watch for the APR figure it helps.

SpongeBob gets a range APR "recommendation."

I just wait until they send me a mailer every day for last 2 weeks. I think that was the sign i was going to get approved

Discover's pre-qualify feature is useless. It will provide a positive response to just about any fake information.

+1 listen to us. it is useless. I put in Sponge bob squarepants and i got a pre approval. the only way is to take the plunge and cross your fingers. good luck.

Yep.  Like I said, put some fake information in for my cat and found that he was also approved for the Discover IT card.  Stellar piece of software—I wonder why it was allowed to ship.

Because it gets them more conversions.
