I probably should've asked this first, but I impulsively apped for Amex ED (approved) and the Blue Cash Everyday (that's the one I orig wanted, but I was afraid I'd get denied). So BCE is 'in process' and I'm assuming it will be a denial. My question is, if it's denied it'll only be a soft pull, but if it's approved then it may/will be a hard pull?
"Normally" what would happen is that both apps would get a hard pull, but if you apped on the same day, then most likely the Credit Bureaus would only report it as one hard pull from Amex.
Can anyone else confirm this for me?

AmEx won't approve more than 1 credit card on the same day, I think they have a 5 day policy. So it will show up as 2 hard pulls because they won't even look at the 2nd app until 5 days later.
The only way to combine hard pulls is if you app for a credit card + a charge card on the same day and get approved for both.
There are exceptions.
I apped for both AmEx SPG and AmEx Delta Gold on a Saturday. They both went to pending or in progress (whatever it says). Both were approve the following Monday within minutes of each other and I got one HP.
I don't think there's a definite answer.
I just went through this very thing. Applied and approved for the Delta Skymiles card ($1k) on a whim while booking a flight. Also applied for BCE a bit later the same day. Was put on hold for 5 days. I called in twice to check the status, and the CSR gave me a number to call on day 5. Called in, and the BCE app was approved for $9,900.
Went thru the same thing exactly 2 weeks ago. PRG Approved, Delta Gold approved, Green card approved, and Delta platinum went to review. Called in and asked, and was told they double check with the CRA's for fraud, and hold the app to make sure it is not an accidental double app. She said the process takes about 5 days, and after 5 days, she said, "They will pull your credit" and review the app. So, in this case, there is no credit pull for that app yet. However, you do not need to worry because now that you are approved for the other cards, you have an account with Amex. So if it is a denial, it will be a soft pull. If it is approved, then you anyway it will be a hard pull. One revolver and charge cards are ok on the same day. It is usually the second revolver that goes in to the waiting period. All my 3 apps were instant approval.

That's 100% correct. I did the two apps in 1 day thing as well. Hilton Surpass Instant Approval; Amex Platinum Card needed verification. Called the CSR and was approved. He told me they have a 5 day wait for credit cards between apps. Not a denial, but the system puts the app on hold as a precaution. Then the 2nd hard pull comes later.

My Mom has an Everyday card she got back in March. She app'd the BCE last month (declined) and a HP never hit her credit. Is that normal for AMEX cardholders? If so, how about Authorized Users?
