I have two Chase cc. One is a few months old and one goes back to 2006. I would like to cancel the newer card and get two others as the anniversary day approaches. I don't need any more credit . I just need to get the credit line transferred to the two new cards My question is how to get this done? Do I just apply for two new cards which I might or might not get or do I call in advance and tell the rep what I am trying to do. . The card being closed would be the Sapphire and the cards being applied for would be freedom and one of the airline or hotel cards?
I will be canceling the Sapphire since I also have Cap 1 Venture regardless but don't want to lose the 30M credit line..
Thoughts?

Don't cancel. Just Apply. Once you get your cards showing in system, send a secure message stating your intention.
Agreed. That's the only way to do it. Not sure I would equate the CSP with the Venture however. Good luck!

Do not cancel. Not a good idea. Canceling Chase for Cap 1? No. Just apply for the cards you want.

CapOne isn't so bad once you've established yourself with them and you have a decent profile.

Nixon, you are right as they always help people out. But I guess my chase loving self just can't fathom the decision OP wants to make lol..
I done this twice with chase. What you need to do is apply for the cards. if you get approved then you get approved. (if you do get approved call Lending services and ask to move ur CSP limit to ur new card and cancel.) if u get a 7-10 day notice call Chase and ask for lending services or call the 866 245 XXXX number (maybe 0625) is the ending its in the Recon Post.) Ask lending services for a recon on the new cards and if they still say no ask for a credit reconsolitation moviing your credit limits around or closing them. I applied for the amazon visa and was declined and on recon they offered to move my credit around (total of 7k) and i said darn I wish i could have 2.5k on each of my cards fora total of 7.5k and he did it so my CSP freedom and amazon all have 2.5k ea.
Thanks everyone. I have the Cap One card already that I got in late summer. I don't see any other Cap One cards that interest me and lots of Chase cards I would like to get over time. I have a 30M limit on Chase and 30M on Cap one. I don't need both but don't want to lose either credit line.II already have Chase Marriott from 2008 but it is my only other Chase card.
Does Chase have any limit on number of cards you can get? I have gotten six new cards including one from Chase In the last four months and was anticpating trying To make switch in late spring. I really want the U.S. Bank Carlson card but think I will get rejected because of so many new apps. From reading this board, it seems too early to do any more now? Right? Would there be much chance of getting the Carlson card and the two Chase cards in the spring with a Fico of 780?
