PHello Fellow Forum Users-
I never post, but I've seen lots of chatter about the Chase Sapphire Reserve. By all accounts I should not have been approved but I was immediately approved with no wait, so I thought I should share the factors that I think tipped the scales in my favor. I know the online 100k bonus is gone but for those of you who want to apply in branch I hear it's still available till early March.
Why I should have been declined:
-Chase pulled a score of 664 for me through "Card Acquisition Risk Score" on 1/10/2017
-I have one public record from 2012 which negatively impacts me (which is valid)
-There are currently 2 open collection accounts that are not valid but I am struggling to get removed which is why I waited till the last day to apply (some a$$hat in CA stole my information and dings me every few months 😤)
- My credit history is short (oldest account is from 2012 as I had to close everything prior to that due to a nasty divorce)
Based on the above dismal report I did NOT think I would get approved, but thought I'd try anyway for kicks and I was immediately approved online for $16k.
So, for those trying to figure out the factors that might tip the scales, here is why I think I made the cut in the end:
-I've been a JP Morgan Chase Private Client (fully managed investment account) for about 4 years, though it's not a big account by their standards
-I do have a perfect payment record on all my cards and have never carried a balance
-I opened a CSP card (15k) in Dec 2015 and have used it as my primary card for the last 12 mos spending about $100k on it over 12mos
So I hope that info helps. I know I have some credit issues to address, but please don't judge... my divorce was gut wrenchingly awful. I just wanted to share the info because it ran counter to most of the things I was reading and wanted to share with people who might not know they have a shot at the perks of CSR.
