Fraud Alert and Apps/Credit Reviews?

I was a victim of identity theft and am going through that whole process now.  I placed a fraud alert on all three of my credit reports.  I was just curious how that works with applications...i would imagine they just need extra identity verification steps?

Also, how about when it comes to regular account reviews for things like increases, AA, etc.  Do CCCs still conduct those in the same fashion as they would without a fraud alert.  Of course, the fake account (a charge off from a telecom company) is still showing on my credit report so i imagine that has an impact, but i disputed that as well.

Re: Fraud Alert and Apps/Credit Reviews?

Sorry to hear... When you place a fraud alert and apply for a card, you will always have to call in to give them access to your credit file.  In some cases, you will have to fax in your DL and SSN for verification.

For account reviews, most companies do soft pulls and you wouldn't have to call in or anything...
