So Last month 9/02/15 to be exact I went onto the chase prequal site, and I was pre approved for Slate and Freedom. I apped for Slate (dumb In retrospect), and was auto approved for $5k SL.
Then I went back to Chase's site on 9/17 got the prequal for Freedom and Slate. - I had decided in the meantime that I wanted Freedom, as a stepping stone to building UR points for a future CSP. - I got slate and Freedom again as prequal, apped and got the we'll let you know message. I called recon and found out about their one per 30 day rule and was denied BUT the rep told me that that was the ONLY reason for a denial. And that if I wanted Freedom app again after the 30 days have passed and I "should" be good to go, with the caveat that "I cant make you any promises but"... My plan was to move most of the SL from the Slate to the Freedom once I got it.
So last night I went back to the prequal site - again prequalled for Slate and Freedom. Apped Freedom, and guess what - the we'll let you know within 30 days message AGAIN!.
SO that's two HP's down the drain trying to get a Chase Freedom.
Do you think I should recon? Or wait for the denial letter? Or do you think I have a chance after all? I'm starting to feel like Chase doesn't want my business. Ironically I have a banking relationship with them, including private client banking, AND I've been an AU on my mom's Freedom for years, which is PIF every month. None of which seems to mean anything.
I wanted to get a UR card in before the 5/24 rule gets me. I've spent the summer on an App spree, Cap one and Amex have been great to me. BOA approved me but at higher APR's and lower SL's.
I'm giving up on Chase if I don't get the Freedom at least in the short term. Maybe at some point I could PC this Slate into a Freedom, but I don't see myself using Slate all that much - everything I do is PIF monthly.
Take care,
George
Should have waited until the 18th.
Also, make sure that, while it may be one app every 30days, it isn't one approval every 6 months.
The Recon Analyst told me to app after the 2nd
. Apparently the hard RULE is one new acct every 30 days, NOT one app per 30 days. I think I'm just beat as far as Chase, but I'm just gonna let it ride. I think I'm gonna app for an AMEX revolver that's part of the MR system, I have the Plat and PRG charge cards, and focus all my efforts on Amex MR points, and forget the whole Chase UR thing.... At least for now.
Take care,
George
Don't call them, just wait it out. There's a good chance it can turn into an approval. Only If you receive a denial in the mail then go for recon.
Definitely DON'T call. Let it ride and see what happens. If denied, you can always recon at that time. You can call regular customer service after lending closes which is usually 10am EST to find out if you need to call verification or if it's just pending review by lending. I repeat don't call during the hours that lending is open

OK, wait a min, that sounds very confusing to me.
Not quite seeing what the difference is......Sounds same to me, but then we are dealing with Chase, so no surprise there.
Bascially, the way it was explained is that Chase will not issue another one of their cards (at least the core chase products), if you have opened an account with them within the past 30 days. THe fact that I apped for freedom the FIRST time on 9/17 caused it to be an automatic denail bc slate was approved and opened 9/02.
BUT post 10/02 the clock has supposedly reset, and It would have been ok to app for Freedom again. And according to the analyst the only reason my first Freedom App was denied was bc of slate being issued two weeks earlier. In other words the denied app on 9/17 doesnt mean that you have to wait another 30 days to app again as per the analyst.
Yet when I apped the other day I still got the 30 day message instead of an instant approval.
Take care,
George
Tried to get approved for the Chase Freedom this weekend. Got the "we'll let you know." message. They pulled Equifax, so I checked my Equifax, it was outdated and incorrect. The score was also much lower than my other credit bureaus report it as (by like 60 points). Called the recon line and the CSR refused to help. She stated that there was absolutely no way they would approve me with my credit inquires. I have 8 over the past two years. I tried to be as nice as I could and explain why I wanted the card but she just repeated the same thing over and over again. She asekd me if I had any questions and I asked her if she could please tell me my credit score. She stated that Chase is not a credit score based company and just repeated that if I had credit isues I should sort out the issue with the credit bureau.
I've tried to apply for different Chase cards over the last few years, spacing out the apps, but they just deny me.
