OP certainly understand your frustration. However, the one good takeaway from this is that you didn't get a HP. Barclays needs to step up to the majors. They've been around long enough to have revised these idiosyncrasies.

Well I am a stubborn SOB so I called BC tonight for the fourth time ! And lol and behold I was approved for my second BC. 5k Arrival Plus. I was able to establish repoire with the rep and he evidently was appeased with my explanation for opening up multiple acts this year.

I don't think you should end your relationship with Barclays. The Rewards card is a useful card to have, and costs you nothing.
My suggestion is that you just chill out on new applications, and after at least 3 months have passed, and you're no longer showing up on their 'application status' screen.... apply again if that's a card you really want.
