Newbie here - I applied for a Gander Mountain MC online on Sat 11/22. No instant approval received email that I would get response as to whether approved or denied in mail within 7-10 days. Ended up in Gander Mountain on Sun 11/23. When I went to check out they asked me if I wanted to apply. I told the cashier I already had and was waiting on a response via mail (showed her this email on my phone). She said she could call and see if I was approved. I agreed. She spoke with lady and they had no record of me applying . I spoke with the lady she said same thing to me. I said I would just wait. She said I could redo it at register. She said it was a soft pull. I repeated to her that I only wanted to do it if it was a soft pull. The lady assured me it was not a hard inquiry. So I agreed. Once I hit submit it just did nothing on her screen. She said that meant they had more questions and would be in contact with me. I just wanted to check out at this point. Well of course today I received alert that I had hard inquiry on 11/22 and 11/23. I am just starting this journey and have worked hard to get to 643 EX 605 TU 642 EQFX but have a long way to go. Is there any way I can dispute the second inquiry? Or is it not worth the time. I have 13, yes 13 HI from when I applied for a auto loan (did get one) that I also was assured were not HI that are also on my CR Any direction/suggestions would be appreciated.
The bad news is no you are stuck with it and although I love comenity if you don't have to call them and are approved, they are beyond a nightmare of a company if you need to call or don't get instant approval with the process in place.
The good news is you have 13 INQ, I believe the magic number is somewhere around 5 they stop counting against your score... I mean they are still there and "some" banks take issue to them but they are not doing anything to your score!
Thank you for your input. I am going to continue combing through the forums hoping to learn the best steps in rebuilding my credit.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Lesson learned on taking someone's word for "soft" inquiry. I will continue trying to rebuild my credit.
