Hi there,
I have a Navy Federal Amex with only a $4900 limit, 11% apr and I opened the account over six months ago. My credit score with them is 791, just pulled on May 4th. I expect that they'll give me the increase with no problem.
If they do an HP on me, would they use that same HP if I applied for a second card? I don't even need one except that I'd love to have a Visa through them at a lower apr than my current visa cards that refuse to budge below 20%.
Thanks!
No it will be two different HP's. I just went through this with them a couple weeks ago. You can almost count on everything with NFCU to be a hard pull.
Thank you! That is really good to know. In other words, if I really want a Visa through them, I shouldn't waste one on a cli for the Amex I have with them.

Do you really want the Visa? You could apply for a CLI then PC to a Visa. There is no HP for a PC.
I requested both a CLI and a second card and got two HP's for it. It was worth it to me. If you only want one HP then you should pick what you most want, the CLI or the second card.

@Anonymous, IIRC, unless there are recent data points associated with the More Rewards AMEX, I didn't think this card could be PC'd to/from another NAVY product.
I was told that it could by a CSR when I was trying to make a decision on a second card. I ultimately did not choose the AMEX and if that is the case, I am glad that I did not. I will take that with a grain of salt given your take on the matter. I know not every CSR is as knowledgeable as they should be.

I'm glad you got the results you were looking for and while I believe HP's are there to be used as needed (which you did) you in fact wasted one hard pull. I mention this not to castigate you for being successful in your quest, but to save you the HP the next time you want a CLI from NFCU.
It's well documented on these forums that if you request a CLI on an existing NFCU card that you have had open for at least 91+ days and having had at least 3 statements cut on that card that you can request a CLI on odd numbered months (Jan, March, May, etc) after NFCU does their bi-monthly AR (soft pull they use to check your account and update the posted FICO score on your online account) the CLI request will be a soft pull. Generally, your CLI request should be shortly after your AR - just watch the "as of" date on your online NFCU FICO score.
Congrats on your new card and CLI.

Congrats on your new card and CLI.
