I don't think you can get pre-approvals till you are 21. I'm 99% sure I have read that. That may also be true of SCT.

I know you are frustrated. Slow down.. you will get credit. There are a lot of people on myFICO with knowledge to help you get credit. But please listen to them.

Your uncle & aunt probably have a lot more history than you, even if BK in included. Your cards are AU, not in your name, not your credit history.

Capitol One Platinum is usually a good place to start. But, others will offer more solid suggestions.

Discover does prequalify under 21, but I don't think Cap one does.

Re: HELP!! I cannot get approved for anything

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the advice.

When I try both Cap One and Discover, it says there is nothing for me in pre-qual.  But i have a fraud alert because tried to use my name when i was younger. Could that be preventing the prequal offers?

Don't apply for subprime cards. Cold app a discover secured then try for a cap1 platinum. Wish someone had told me that when I started rebuilding.

One thing about the SCT, don't get cards via this method just to get a card. Tried the prequals for Capital One and Discover as suggested. If that doesn't work, you might have to start with a secured card. I know it's not what you want but you don't want to end up with cards that eventually will get closed. Credit is a marathon and not a race. Good luck.

Okay. I'm smart enough to listen to the pros, so ill go the secured card route first. Thanks!

Yes, my mom told me about them. She has a couple because of bankruptcy too, but she does have an unsecured Cap One and secured Discover.

Everything will work out for you if you dont get into a big hurry.

Everyone wants to have good credit so that they can have the

nicer things in life, but this takes time and patience !

My wife started out with a secured Capital One Platnum card, Now she has

Great credit and alot of Prime cards with Chase and Amex.

( She still has the secured Cap1 card ) and wouldnt have come this far without it !

I wish you the best of luck !

I think it wouldn't hurt to ask around for relatives/friends that possibly would be willing to put you on their accounts as an AU to help give you a short-term boost to your score.
