HSN Preapproval email

Has anyone gotten the HSN card with a preapproval email? I just got one today that says I am preapproved for the card with a coupon for $25 off my first purchase....this coupon is not the up to $25 one.

When I click on accept offer, it takes you to the credit card app which is all filled in except for the social security number. It does ask for the full number. I am just wanting to know if this is a hard or soft pull before I decide to do it. It seems like I have been shopping more at HSN in the past 2 years, so this would work for me and then I would close a couple of my other Comenity cards like Linen Source and Haband.

I do know that when I got my Williams Sonoma card, they asked for my full social security number and it was a soft pull.

Re: HSN Preapproval email

The only hard pulls I've heard about from Comenity for store cards is on phone CLI request. SCTs and mail offers are all SP from what I've read.

My personal stance on pulls: always pretend like it's a hard pull. In other words, apply for cards that you want. If you wouldn't accept the card if it's a hard pull, then being a soft pull shouldn't be the motivator to get it. Sounds like you'll use this card, so pretend like it's going to be a hard pull and decide. When it turns out to be a soft pull (which it most likely is), then count that as the cherry on top.
