Has anyone successfully reconned for Citi Best Buy card?

I applied last night and got this response: 'We need to process the application further, we will send a letter in the mail in about 2 weeks' Has anyone else gotten this message and successfully called or chatted with a CSR and got approved after the fact?

I got the same message upon applying. I assumed it was for a manual review.... No it was an instant decline. The CSR came back and told me that it was a decline and there was nothing he could do. I asked for a recon and had no success. I might try again today a couple of times and see what I can make happen (I miss the days of best buy being a Capital One [got the first card on a soft pull]).

In the "Approvals" forum, I've read that lots of people have been having great success being approved in the store.  Once at the check out counter, the cashier asks if they would like to apply, they say yes, cashier enters the info and they get approved.  Cashier asks them if they would like the store card or VISA version, no matter what their credit limits are.  I am curious to try that route myself.

Yeah I think that I might try that route myself. I actually got my Walmart card that way as well. Now I wonder if I have to wait 30 days to reapply. I can't remember if Citi is 30 or 90 wait to reapply for the same card. Now the other question is can you cold apply for the card at the register, or do you have a few items checked out to get a better odds of approval?

Good questions, but I unfortunately do not have the answers.  You may want to research through the approvals to find out those answers.

It's pretty hard to recon with citi at all to be honest. But it never hurts if you do decide to give it a shot.
