You should wait a few months to let your card age. I would try again in about 6 months, or if you can wait a year, that would be even better. By that time, along with low utilization and on time payment history you will be able to get the card you would want. I wouldnt go on an app spree or try applying for credit you dont need as that can hurt you before you get the chance to build credit.

@Anonymous Go to the bank where you have your checking account and ask if you prequalify for a credit card.  You would be in a better position to qualify for a credit card from the bank with which you have a depository relationship
