Re: Help me decide what to get or do Amex vs Cap One.

Reminder guys;

I have 1 account open for 8 months now and that is being an AU on my dads United Explorer card. I will be traveling for my own business domestically A LOT (probably 1-2 times a month once it gets going). And Internationally (Thailand/Japan) as well.

Also I never use credit because I have a reasonable amount of cash I don't need to touch my credit. All I am doing now is trying to build credit and gain rewards (don't care if its United miles or cash back). I don't want to pay an annual fee that is why I don't want those Amex cards.

I have 2 hard pulls (1 to all 3 for a capital one card I was denied before I even had a score. My fault I was dumb) And 1 hard inquery from Charles Schwab for opening a bank and brokerage with them. Like someone said a charge card I would be fine with since the bills paid before it comes in the mail.

Ideally I would prefer a Chase card even Freedom cards because I bank with Chase but Im sure they require 2+ years credit history. The only card I would actually pay the AF for is the Sapphire Preferred or the Reserve (450af but 300 for airfare and ill use that up in a month)

Scores are good for those cards on Amex from what I’ve seen me included they approve around 650s

Chase needs 1 year of credit history and you need to be under the 5/24 rule (under 5 new accounts in 24 months)

If you really want the chase cards id apply for those first after you reach the one year mark, then go after the amex
