No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Is your credit history brand new at 3 months old? if so I would wait until month 6-7 of your cap1 and then go on a mini spree (American Express Blue or Everyday, Capital One Venture, Discover it, Chase Freedom, CSP, Marriott, or AARP)
I agree that should you wait until at least unitl the 6 month mark, but you could always check the pre qualify sites at Chase, Cap one etc..
I will be the outsider here. With your young profile, I wouldn't go on an app. spree. Get the one card you need and assess your needs as you go along. Wait for your history to be at least 6 months old and then check the Chase pre-equal to see if something shows up for you.
Amex and Discover likes thin files... So Disocover and Amex Blue Cash Everyday are also good ones to consider in addition to Chase-
In terms of credit cards, yes, my credit history is only 3 months old. I'm not sure if utilities and student loans are also used as credit history as I do have utilities under my name and my oldest bill is 1 year. I also have a couple student loans that date longer than my credit card history. I'm only a student so I'm not looking for any cards that have AFs.
And in terms of my scores, I have no idea what they are. But my TU CK Fako is 642 and EQ CK FAKO is 652. No baddies.
3 inqs on TU (2 of the 3 will fall off by August of this year)
2 inqs on EQ (1 of the 2 will fall off by October of this year)
As for Macys, I haven't seen them pull on my reports yet and it's been a month since I've had the card. Who do they usually pull?
I think you should try for a Barclay Rewards card. I have it and it's great in terms of cash rewards for groceries and utilities.
And it's not hard to get.
And they review you for a credit line increase every 6 mos.
Capital One Journey is really easy to get. I think I get 1.5 cash back. Low limit to start but after 6 months they will raise it depending on usage.
You could probably get the Capital One Journey, but it is best to wait and get cards you can keep long term. The journey is only 1.25% cash back and you already have the Quicksilver with 1.5% cash back. I would suggest analyzing what categories you spend on the most. Then figuring out what cards match your spending, and setting those as your goal cards. Once you know what you need, you can look on here and see what each lender likes in a profile and get an idea of how to get approved and when to apply. For example: Discover typically likes clean thin files, while Chase will want to see a year of history with other cards and Citi is inquiry sensitive, etc.
